About us
This is our blog about Isabel and Mike’s life and experiences of living and working in Barcelona, Spain.
We moved to Barcelona early in 2006 and are now the proud owners of a renovated modernist flat in the Eixample district in the heart of the city. Isabel (originally from Zaragoza, Spain) had previously been living in London for 20 years working in IT before returning to Spain. Mike (brought up in Northern Ireland with a Scottish family) has a PhD in geophysics and has worked in Edinburgh, Cambridge and London in IT. We met while working on IT projects in London and together we set up an IT consultancy company for Oracle databases.
We absolutely love living in the centre of Barcelona and whilst we sometimes miss the quietness (i.e. relatively low noise level) of London and a decent curry 
I don’t think we’ll be going back in a hurry. We can walk to the beach in less than 20 minutes and cycle there in about 10 minutes and we are a five minute walk from the main shopping area in the city, and we enjoy visiting the beautiful scenery of Catalonia at the weekends.
