Notes in Spanish
10:28 pm January 17th, 2007I just found this very well done Spanish language website Notes In Spanish. Run by Marina and Ben, it has a lot of useful sources and plenty of idioms to practise. They also have a link to a very useful grammar website from Bowdoin College in Maine, USA.
The Streets of Barcelona
11:16 am January 17th, 2007I’ve started a new page on where the street names of Barcelona come from. It draws on the existing street name dictionary available on the Ayuntamiento’s web site. Click on our blog page to see what’s there.
Marc Blau
3:39 pm January 14th, 2007We went for dinner last night at Marc Blau in Roger De Lluria opposite the Ritz Hotel. The restaurant is basically non-smoking which is a plus in Barcelona, and the meal was of a reasonably good standard. I had a pasta starter (a bit too soft for me, but seems to be “al dente español”), Isabel had terrina de anchoas; I then had a fillet steak “cooked in its own juice” with “hidden pureed potates” rolled up in jamon and with morcilla discs at either end. Isabel went for the arroz con bogavante which was good as well, but she has had better in L’Altra Llossa. For dessert we both went for an apple tart with honey ice cream. All washed down with a reasonable bottle of Albariño. The meal was good without being exceptional, but not too sure if we would repeat it. Price around 90 Euros for two of us.
Started for sure…?
10:48 am January 11th, 2007We’ve finally got around to setting up a blog. It’s not the first time that we’ve done this, but hopefully we’ll have a better stab at it this time.
I’ve created the first few (blank) pages for Food and Drink and for the Eixample district where we live.
