Medieval Villages

Peratallada beautiful village to wander around the streets and maybe grab some lunch or an evening meal in one several good restaurants here.  Monells as above, but for evening meals in the village square you probably need to book ahead.

Towns

Girona definitely worth a visit to explore the old town. Pals pleasant medieval hilltown. FigueresThe Dalí museum - you either love it or hate it!

Coastal villages

One-time fishing villages squeezed into gorgeous small bays, are some of the Costa Brava’s most charming coastal villages.

Cadaques worth the long drive to get there; a very pretty village it’s Salvador Dalí who truly gave Cadaqués its sparkle and fame. Calella de Palafrugell - has an excellent setting with number of beautiful small coves linked via the coastal walk. Should not be confused with the larger, more commercialized resort of Calella, which is further south towards Barcelona. Tamariu- parking can be tricky at peak times - there is a car park under pine trees in the village centre up from the harbour/beach. Good fish restaurants around the harbour for an evening meal. Begur also worth a visit but parking can be tricky here. You probably already know that there are great beaches down below Begur - if you can park the car! Palamós worth it for the famous gambas - otherwise it's really just a fishing port. The nearby beach at Playa del Castell is good and still unspoiled. A bit inland from the beach you can find a lovely country restaurant and one of my favorite spot to dine or stay even with your dog! La Malcontenta an old, 19th-century fortified country house, It's a bit off the beaten track, but serves good quality, traditional Catalan food. The Camí de Ronda coastal footpath also provides a great walk along the rugged coastline. There is a good stretch linking Tamariu to Llafranca and then Calella on to the botanical garden at Cap Roig You can don't miss the open-air summer festival host to the world’s best musical artists in a spectacular natural setting in front of the sea!!!.

You'll find the coastal roads in the Costa Brava are very twisty and distances that look short on the map can take longer to cover than expected, especially with heavy tourist traffic.

Sitges It is a white wash charming seaside town and for decades Sitges has been a meeting place for people from all walks of life. A sophisticated getaway for young and old, gay and straight, families and friends. The town is full to bursting with classic art deco buildings and the seafront promenade is lined with palm.

Montserrat, 50km northwest of Barcelona, is at the heart of Catalan identity for its mountain, monastery and natural park weaving among distinctive rock formations. Montserrat mountain is instantly recognisable, sculpted over millennia by wind and frost. Its turrets of rock, a coarse conglomerate of limestone and eroded fragments, extend like gnarled fingers from its 1236m-high bulk. More than halfway up the mountain lies the Benedictine Monestir de Montserrat, home to La Moreneta ('Little Brown One', or 'Black Virgin'), one of Spain’s most revered icons. Extending from this sacred spot is the Parc Natural de la Muntanya de Montserrat, superlative hiking terrain where brooks tumble into ravines and lookout points deliver panoramas of rocky pillars.

And finally but not least The Ebro Delta is an extraordinary location for contemplating nature, enjoying bird watching, going for walks between the rice fields or on bike rides and enjoying extraordinary cuisine featuring the local produce the rice to make the famous Spanish national dish "Paella".
