Restaurants around

We can recommend the following restaurants.
There are in four broad categories: Breakfast cafes, Tapas, Vegetarian, traditional Menú del día and Other (more expensive) restaurants. Otherwise they are in no particular order.

Breakfast cafes

Onia Cafe: Lovely place for a quick breakfast or brunch. They make their own bread. Round the corner!.

Bresco: Specialty chocolate to drink and buy!. 2 minutes walk.

La Malcriada: Is a brunch house and baking lab located in our neighborhood, between Urquinaona and Arc de Triomf. 3 minutes walk.

AlSur Café: Handmade cakes, brownies, cookies and churronuts - No day starts without this crunchy classic. 5 minutes walk.

La Pallaresa: This is for a more traditional chocolate con churros experience. It is near Portaferrisa a bit further from the flat 15 minutes walk.

Tapas restaurants

El Xampanyet: One of the best traditional tapas bar in Barcelona - fantastic ambience - it is a bit of a squeeze though! Try the anchoas and the house cava. 10 minutes walk.

El Vaso de Oro: Barceloneta district - very narrow bar with excellent tapas. 20 minutes walk.

Tapas24: Great tapas from Carles Abellan. It is the sister restaurant of Comerc24, unfortunately close. 10 minutes walk.

Paco Meralgo: Fantastic sea food tapas. 15 minutes walk.

Betlem: Offers a variety of signature tapas and meals at the bar, as well as catering and takeaway services. Up the road no more than 5 minutes tops!

Vegetarian

This list of restaurants is from a vegetarian guest that stayed with us in January 2023. He was with us for a few weeks and he highly recommends these places!

Veggie Garden: 18 minutes walk.

Vegetarià Hindú Govinda: 14 minutes walk.

Vegetalia Gòtic: 20 minutes walk.

Vegetalia Born: 15 minutes walk.

The Vegan Corner: Very small, nice for breakfast. 20 minutes walk.

Chilli: Not all vegetarian but a nice selection of Indian vegetarian dishes. 5 minutes walk.

And from another guest back in 2022

Flax and kale: Great flavors, gluten free healthy pizzas, asian-mediterranean fusion cuisine. 10 minutes walk.

Menú del día

The "Menú del día" was an invention of the Franco era, designed to keep the workers near the factory at lunchtime rather than go home to eat and siesta with the wife.

La Dolca Herminia:: Always queues to get in, so that speaks for itself. No reservations. 10 minutes walk.

El Hostal de Rita: Same chain as La Dolca Herminia and the same queues mean good quality and good value. 10 minutes walk.

Pirineu en Boca: Outstanding local meat and cooking from the Pyrenees and just on your street.

Other restaurants

Rimini Rimini: Homemade Italian food for everyone - including children :-) and just round the corner from home!.

Giorgio: A good Italian restaurant. 5 minutes walk.

El Tragaluz: Modern Catalan menu and one of the better restaurants in Barcelona. You will need to book and the tables by the sloping glass roof are the best.

Mayura Lounge Bar: The best curry that we've found in Barcelona to date. Highly recommended.

Hawker 45: Fusion food created by women with an open kitchen so you can watch them make your food.

Patagonia: The best Argentinian beef & wine restaurant around the area.

Siete Portes: Highly recommended by Joanne & friends, 2008 & Marie, Anton & Yana, 2013.

Alkimia: The elegant Alkimia it is closed on Saturdays and Sundays!

El Nacional: Love this too – in Passeig de Gracia. This place has several restaurants/bars housed under one roof. Very relaxing in a fantastic setting. Experience their tapas area and the cocktail Bars. Sit at the tapas Bar the waiters walk around with hot or cold tapas for you to choose from as they pass by!

Kingsman: Elegant, distinguished and, at the same time, very cozy atmosphere, just 2 minutes walk!

Chinacrown (Casa Calvet): The Imperial kitchen of China set on a Modernist building designed by Antonio Gaudí. It is very very close by too!.

The Batuar: Have an exclusive cocktail in its lush terrace, check also the outdoor pool on the roof - magnificent views!. Just 5 minutes from the apartments.

Beach restaurants

Arenal: Excellent spot for lunch if you can get a table outside on the beach. Good seafood.

Carpe Diem Lounge Club: Good informal eating – it's a night club after dark, but a good spot for a chilled lunch on a Sunday afternoon, although a little overpriced. The sandwich menus are good.

Ca la Nuri: Excellent spot for lunch if you can get a table outside on the beach. Good seafood.
